Agroecological enterprises (AEEs) are businesses that adhere to the 13 Principles of Agroecology. These businesses do more than simply sell products and services. They support access to healthy diets, improve the resilience of farming communities. contribute to biodiversity preservation and strengthen local markets and economies. Unfortunately, AEEs generally struggle to access the financial services they need to grow their businesses and scale up their positive impacts, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. For all donors, investors and programme managers with questions around why and how to invest in AEEs, Biovision has produced a web-based interactive guide that compiles the latest evidence and information on the topic. The guide outlines the ways in which agroecological enterprises generate positive social and environmental impacts that contribute to food system transformation. It explains why investing in agroecological enterprises makes good business sense. The guide also contains inspiring showcases of agroecological enterprises, as well as examples of innovative financing mechanisms. Now, Biovision has just released a Summary Brief of the Guide, that synthesizes the key points and evidence.
