Berne, 23.06.2026 — Switzerland will be represented at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) to be held in Gdańsk from 25 to 26 June by a delegation led by Jacques Gerber, the Federal Council’s Delegate for Ukraine. Launched in Lugano in 2022 at Switzerland’s initiative, the Conference has become the key international forum for the reconstruction of Ukraine. The Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) was first organised in 2022 to coordinate reconstruction efforts in Ukraine. A series of conferences launched at Switzerland’s initiative, the first URC was held in Lugano and it has since become the key international forum for the reconstruction of Ukraine. The fifth conference will be held in Gdańsk from 25 to 26 June. Switzerland will be represented by Jacques Gerber, the Federal Council’s delegate for Ukraine.
Reconstruction and the fight against corruption
The conference will focus on supporting the energy sector, providing critical infrastructure to protect the civilian population, and economic recovery to aid reconstruction. A further focus of the conference will be on strengthening Ukraine’s security capabilities.
Members of the Swiss delegation will take part in various high-level panel discussions and specialist events. The Federal Council’s delegate for Ukraine, Jacques Gerber, will be taking part in discussions on local and regional reconstruction efforts.
Together with the Basel Institute for Governance and Transparency International, he is also organising an event to highlight the importance of anti-corruption reforms. In that regard, Jacques Gerber will sign a Memorandum of Understanding to expand an existing anti-corruption project that forms an important part of the support Switzerland provides in the fight against corruption.
Talks with Ukraine and partner countries
The Conference will also provide an opportunity for bilateral meetings with representatives of the Ukrainian government. The talks will focus on further cooperation regarding Ukraine’s economic recovery and the involvement of the Swiss private sector in the reconstruction effort. A high-level meeting of the Ukraine Donor Platform will also take place on the fringes of the URC. Switzerland is taking part in the Platform meeting as an observer state and is monitoring the coordination of international support for Ukraine.
In addition, the Federal Council delegate, Jacques Gerber, will hold discussions with representatives from partner states to strengthen the coordination of international support for Ukraine’s reconstruction and to discuss common priorities for future cooperation.
International Coalition for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine
The first high-level meeting of the International Coalition for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine will take place on the fringes of the URC. A joint statement is intended to send a message of solidarity in support of the international reconstruction of Ukraine’s research and innovation system.
