Focal Point
The Global Network Against Food Crises, or the GNAFC, is a multistakeholder initiative of humanitarian and development actors, united by a commitment to tackle the root causes of food crises and to promote sustainable solutions. Sharing analyses and knowledge, the object is to strengthen the coordination of evidence-based responses across the humanitarian–development–peace nexus. This happens by bringing together existing initiatives, platforms and mechanisms, to enhance synergies and avoid duplication.
The objective of this meeting is to showcase the GNAFC’s services and discuss how they might be linked to the work and contexts where SDC and other Swiss organisations are working. In the course of the hour, we will learn about the GNAFC and how it complements other global initiatives on food security, be that GAFS, FSIN, GDPRD or the UNFSS Coordination Hub. We will look at some of the GNAFC’s services and achievements and hear what its vision for the future is. Of course, there will also be space to ask questions and discuss some of the topics brough up.
This BBL is particularly useful for all colleagues who work relates to acute or long-term food security, to UN inter-agency collaboration, to Conflict & Hunger and UNSC Resolution 2417, or who work on projects with WFP, FAO, IFAD UNICEF, UNHCR and the World Bank.
