World Food Forum 2025: “Cities at the heart of food systems transformation”
Side event of the World Food Forum organized on 15 October 2025 by young professionals from the Swiss Federal Administration and Swiss research institutions.
As young people, we recognize some of the challenges and have ideas for potential solutions, but we rarely have the opportunity to influence policy change through the national governance system. So, should we still try to participate in food systems transformation in our region? Of course! A great way to start is to get involved in your city, gather with some key people and initiate a transformative process.

This event was co-organized by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences (BFH-HAFL), the Swiss Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG), the World Food System Center of the ETHZ, and the Centre for Development and Environment (UNIBE-CDE).
Resources
To help you transform the food system in your city, we have prepare a booklet, conceived to help you transform the food system in your city by providing starting points and inspiring you with some success stories. Of course, there is no magical formula to do it. Use this booklet as an introductive inspiration and then feel free to dive into some of its resources, ask an artificial intelligence, or get creative and find your own self-made solution. As long as you keep trying, and trust yourself that you can be the start of changes, you will succeed!
